Days Gone is a post-apocalyptic game set after some major world crisis, possibly a plague. The story follows the motorcycle-riding, bounty hunting Deacon St. John wandering through a depopulated world, searching for a reason to live.
Days Gone is a third-person open world shooter that throws you into the apocalypse two years after the global catastrophe. Gameplay has revealed that you’ll be able to hop onto motorcycles, attack with melee weapons and firearms, and jump and slide over obstacles.
The threat in this universe may seem like zombies at first, but they aren’t. In fact it goes much deeper than that. They are called “Freakers” and only come out during the dusk and throughout the night. They aren’t dead and never were, these are humans that are going absolutely crazy. They can and will attack each other, but ultimately want you as you aren’t infected. These are living things, with brains and can be very deadly. Once it is day time, you won’t see them. If you have an objective to do, it is best to leave bright and early, and set up traps around the area of your objective when the sun is going down. Preparing for the Freakers is a key point to surviving in this world, you won’t want to leave at night, but when you’re off doing your thing; you will have to deal with them sooner or later.
Dynamic weather is said to play a big role in the game. Don’t be surprised to see rain, wind, lightning, and snow affect your normal gameplay, even to the point that your motorcycle will act and sound different depending on the situation. A day and night system is also in place that will change certain situations as well.
Your main character in the game is Deacon. He is a bounty hunter, who takes on daring tracking missions to find various people.
Currently there isn’t much info on other characters, although the E3 reveal trailer did show Deacon with a woman, as they rode around on a bike.
